Pierce Creek Reconnection Project Poised on the Launching Pad

If you made it to the South Fork Boise River near Danskin Bridge in the last couple of days you would have seen this heavy equipment and rock pile in the photo below.  It represents the first step of the Pierce Creek Reconnection Project.

The project involves removing the fout-foot diameter culvert under the South Fork Boise road and replacing it with a steel bridge.  The project is a cooperative undertaking of many of the groups involved in this website and is the first major fisheries habitat improvement on the South Fork Boise River in many years. Details about the project were posted last April.

Similar to a space shuttle launch, there are many factors at play that can affect exactly when the launch will occur.  Currently there are some permit reviews getting completed that are necessary prior to working in the waters of Pierce Creek.  Once that is done the plan is to move forward with the project and complete it in a three week period.
